National Small Business Week Recognizes America’s Entrepreneurs

HealthyYOU Vending Recognizes Entrepreneurs During National Small Business Week

During National Small Business Week (May 1-7) we recognize the significant contributions of America’s small business owners and entrepreneurs. Did you know that more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business? HealthyYOU Vending owner/operators are part of this important group of American entrepreneurs, 800 strong, who work hard every day to use their small business as a way to improve the economy and bring healthy vending options to consumers across America.  It is encouraging to expand and start a vending machine business.

The theme of this year’s National Small Business Week is “Dream Big, Start Small.” In his April 29th proclamation, President Barack Obama declared America’s small businesses as “a vital part of our country’s economy.” The President noted the critical role small businesses play in generating economic prosperity, thanks to the hard work and determination by entrepreneurs across America.

As successful entrepreneurs with a combined 32 years of experience in the vending industry, HealthyYOU Vending owners knew one of the keys to the success of HealthyYOU Vending depended on avoiding the traditional franchise platform to start a vending machine business. They bucked the industry standard and decided not to offer a franchise model, instead letting the operators purchase healthy vending machines and market their business as their own, without a long list of restrictions or contracts mandating that vending products be purchased exclusively through HealthyYOU Vending.

HealthyYOU Vending manager Pete Ambrosino, whose wife Terry Matz owns 19 machines, says they researched other healthy vending companies before making their decision to become HealthyYOU Vending owners. “The thing I couldn’t wrap my mind around with franchise models was how they would provide any value to earn their royalties,” Ambrosino says. “How would our business grow with their name on it?” Ambrosino appreciated that HealthyYOU Vending required no franchise agreement but still offered the full support and training of a franchise.

“Our philosophy is different at HealthyYOU Vending. Our focus in on YOU; it’s not about us,” says HealthyYOU Vending owner Mike Burnett. “We tell our operators that this is your business and you’re in control. We want you to succeed! That’s the ‘HealthyYOU Vending difference.”

Thinking of starting a business? There’s no time like the present.  We also welcome women-owned businesses!
